First off, let me apologize for being gone so long guys. I have been very sick with the stomach flu (nasssstayyy!!) and my job has been dumping all this work on me. I guess its because they know I am leaving, so why not take advantage of me right?

My shopping has come to a halt =( My car crapped out on me slapping me with a hefty bill. But I did manage to buy this really cute shirt from H&M for about 16 bucks.Love this shirt despite the couple of smart-asses made a comment that I look like a farmer.

Ok on LHCF, there was a contest for a porn star look.I wanted to enter...but I am a little shy to enter because the ladies there would soo blow me away. I just have to face the fact that looking "sexy" doesn't come naturally to me. I am a more "cute" type of girl. So I will post it here where there is no competition. Oh, and I am wearing my VS lacy top in this picture.

I promise to actually join the next contest!! I like the Egyptian theme one going on there, but I really need false eyelashes to pull that one off.

Ok quick review: Jane's Agua Ceuticals Tinted Moisturizer. It costs about 6 bucks in Walgreens.

I am fond of Jane's Cosmetics and I love a gel eyeliner I bought from them. There were having a BOGO sale so I bought this to see how I liked it. The coverage is very sheer, so this is not going to cover dark blemishes. I bought the Dark Tones shade with the understanding that tinted moisturizers need not be the same shade. Initially I liked it, it felt light and didn't feel like I had anything on, but after a few minutes, it turned darker and soon my face turned to this strange dark brown/red. Also, I feel that it is a bit drying and dries with a tacky feel. This might be a nice product if the color suits you. I would not repurchase this. In fact, I find making my own tinted moisturizer better. By mixing my foundation with face lotion, I get a much better color match. Now it will rest in peace in my MAKEUP GRAVE YARD...( lucky it was free, too bad I lost the receipt so I could trade it for something else)

Curled my hair with the CHI

Super quick post. I curled my hair for the first time with my CHI flat iron. It was weird at first, but I got the hang of it and I like I can multitask!!There are a whole bunch of tutorials on youtube.

Playing with my makeup graveyard box

You ever had a makeup product that you tried before, hated it and just put it aside somewhere and forgot about it? I have a box called my makeup graveyard where I have all these products that were given to me or I bought and thought it completely sucked. One such product in there was Iman's Blush in Sable. When I first put it on, it looked very dark and looked like I got into a fight and lost. Last night, out of pure boredom, I decided to give it a go one more time, but this time to use as a contour. I used my BBR MSF in Brunette as a highlighter. Bam! Out of nowhere cheekbones appeared! (Ignore the horrible eyeshadow. I was trying to figure out how to use this awful green shade)

So now my Iman Sable has come back to life!

Then I went back and retried the stupid pink shade from L'Oreal Hip. I know in one post I used it and kinda liked it, but I could never get it to look right with the blue that came with it. Well, now that I have these new crease brushes from Essence of Beauty, application of eyeshadows are so much easier.Don't ask what I was doing before. I like it so much better. Other stuff I am trying to figure how to like better is MAC's Groundwork Paint Pot, Makeup For Ever Duo Mat 214(stuff looks orange on me, I look like a pumpkin)and this Ulta Palette I got for Christmas which contained that green color I am trying to work with above. I just feel bad throwing away anything, waste not, want not right?

Super Small Haul

Despite all the hype for the Hello Kitty Collection from MAC, I have decided that nothing really sparked my interest. I thought I would like Fresh Brew lipstick, but it really did not do anything for me. So, oh well more cash for me!

I did go to Ulta today to purchase a few things I have been wanting to try.
Carmex (just because I was sick of regular 'ol Chapstick), Sally Hansen's Natural Beauty lipstick in Seashell Nude, and NYX in Copper.

Seashell Nude is a nice neutral brownish/pink color that I could wear for everyday. Copper is a dupe of MAC's Coppering. It reminds me of a copper penny. I love it and will look fantastic for summer looks.Top is a swatch of the lipstick the bottom the NYX eyeshadow. This is my first NYX eyeshadow! Funny I have yet to buy any MAC eyeshadows. But since reading the lists of dupes floating around (Shoot me a message if you want a copy of this list), I doubt I will be buying any soon!

Losing My Mind In The Steets of Boston,Studio Sculpt

Happy Friday! I spent the day in Boston to visit my friend Lucy (hi Lucy if your reading this!) and it was just a day of eating and shopping. But let me start off with some sad news first. WARNING LONG POST.

Studio Sculpt Foundation

Lemme start of with a funny story. I have been shunning MAC foundations because I have been colormatched to be somewhere between NC45 and NC 50, however there is no color that exist between those two. But seeing that MAC had this new foundation out, I was intrigued enough to give it one more go. This time I did something different, I tried NW43...and I liked it a lot. The MUA came along and insisted to try to match me herself since she knew I had so much yellow undertones that being NW should make me ashy. She once again tried to place me between the NC 45 and 50, but she admitted that NW43 was the color. TA-DA!

Ok this foundation is amazing! It made my skin look ever so flawless, but not made up at all. The product is buildable so you can make it as sheer as you want. It also gave a glow to me. I WAS IN LOVE, PEOPLE! Price is kinda steep (29 bux) but quite frankly I didn't give two hoots because it was worth it and I would only use it for special occasions. Sorry no picture of the results. Ok, here is the bad news...I had to return it. YEAH I RETURNED IT....it actually gave me an allergic reaction. I had bumps on my chin and forehead where I applied it. My skin is not that sensitive so its rare for a product to give me a reaction. But... alas, it was not meant to be. I will always feel like its my lost love. *sniff*

On a more happier topic. I went into town and went shopping! This is the damage.

FRIDAY

10 dollar black top from H&M along with a silver necklace, 15 dollar turtle neck from Rampage, Brunette MSF (which is the bomb) , and black flats from Chinese Laundry 24 bucks. Yes this is what you do when you are about to be unemployed for two years, spend your cash on things you don't need.

Oh yeah and I bought my boyfriend this cute snoopy from the Hallmark store. He really liked it.

After I met up with Lucy for a cup of mocha with awesome cheesecake from the North Side of Boston. Sorry I don't remember the name, I think it was Pompeii something. Awesome cheesecake!!!!

Now as well all know tomorrow is V-day but...I am working. So my boyfriend decided to surprise me with a deep dish pizza from GIODARNO's in Chicago (which is only the best deep dish in the world, nothing special). He ordered it and had it shipped overnight here. And its in a shape of a heart aww! Yum! Please ignore the knife that is about to stab the heart pizza.

So now I am at home and I will just veg out in front of the TV after all that. I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentines Day and be safe!!! I will leave you with a picture of the Boston skyline.

Revlon Undereye Concealor Review

I have been using Bobbi Brown's corrector all this time and I really like it. It's just the price that's killing me. My goal for now is to look for great drugstore brands I can use for when I am in grad school and no longer working.

I went ahead and tried Revlon's Colorstay Undereye Concealer (SPF 15) to cover those darn circles I have. It is usually 9.99 in Walgreens but I got it for about 6.99 from a sale they are having.Yeah you can see from the packaging that I have managed to keep, I plan on returning it today. Well, first I liked how it is a little clicky pen type thing. Similar to Stila's lipglosses. Then I came to realize, I don't really like that because I can't clean the sponge thing and I don't want to keep putting that on my face.

So in terms of the product, I feel that it is not for someone with yellow undertones. The concealer comes off looking chalky on me. I also feel its a bit drying and the last thing I want is an undereye concealer that dries out that area. WRINKLES!! You can kinda see the where I applied the concealer in the picture. Its not horrible, but I know there is something better out there. On a positive note, I bet if the color was a bit better, it would have done a great job at hiding my circles since I feel the coverage isn't bad.

But yeah...this needs to go back from whence it came. I have enough unused/unwanted makeup products in my little case.

This weekend I got hold of the Mac's Photo lipstick I have been lusting after. Here is a picture

Funny thing is, it makes my teeth seem extra white. I couldn't stop looking at my teeth! Its a very deep brown, but it can be toned down for a daytime look with some gloss. Its almost time for the HK collection to hit my area! I can't wait to post what I buy from there.

I am also considering buying some of the Bare Minerals foundation for everyday use. I like the glow it gives me and its pretty light. Anyone else use their products? I used them before but I wasn't wowed by them. But then again I didn't try the foundation powder I was using their lipgloss.

This weekend has been crazy! So much eating of Indian food and thanks to all my well wishers! I am still waiting for a response from a few schools, but my top choice is who accepted me on Thursday and that's all that matters!!!

I GOT ACCEPTED TO GRAD SCHOOL! WHOO!!!

I just wanted to make a quick post that I got accepted to GRAD SCHOOL PEOPLE!!! Oh My God I am so happy! I have working toward this goal for two years. The field I am trying to get into is Speech Language Pathology, which helps people who have voice disorders. This is a great field to get into and it is in demand because there is a shortage. The area I have the most experience in is with children with autism with communication problems and I will probably continue to serve this population.

Competition is fierce to get into grad school, and to be honest I didn't think I would get in. They only accept 40 out of 300!! So let me get my party on tonight! After that, I will figure out how to pay for all this..eeeK!

Review of Revlon's Illuminance Creme Shadow

After watching a Youtube videos girls using this, I decided to go to Walgreens and buy a set knowing full well that if it sucked, I would return it. The one I bought was in Wild Orchids because purples are known to make brown eyes pop.
I tried the colors on my hand and they were just so pretty

Take One!

Ok, so let's see how this baby holds up after a few hours of work? I applied the lightest shade (first color in the picture) to my lids with no primer (yeah I know creme shadows + no primer=nothing good) here is a picture of the result:

EWwww...Creasing like it was nobody's business. Its ok, I have no one to impress at work anyways. I still liked the color on my lids. I decided to give it another go.

Take Two!

So yesterday I would be in meetings and all that stuff so there would be no time to be fussing with my makeup. I applied UDPP and used Loreal's Hip Duo in Rascal on the outer crease.

It held up! Yay!

My next trip to the drugstore, I will definitley be purchasing more colors. It gives a nice base and really makes colors pop. There will be plenty of experimenting to do. A primer is an absolute must or its a no go. This thing will crease like it has no momma. I also suggest you use a powder shadow over it to prevent creasing as well. They were 6.99 at my Walgreens but I am sure you can find them cheaper.

Favorite Lipsticks

Finding good lipsticks are hard for me because I have a dark ring around my lips which I like to think of as my built in lipliner (it gets darker in the summer >_<) It makes it hard for me to wear light, sheer colors. I tend to stick to browns, bronzes, and brownish red colors, though I am trying to move away from that and experiment more. Below are some of my favorite colors so far. Once again, I did not put any face makeup so get ready to see my perfect imperfections...hehe
Mac's Touch lipstick. I really like this pinkish/brownish color. It just warms my face right up, so pretty! It's a great nude for when I want to wear more dramatic eyeshadow or blush.

Mac's Viva Glam VI. I usually steer away from pinks because I usually have a hard time pulling it off. But while at the MAC store, I tried it and I fell in love. I didn't try it yet, but I bet it looks lovely paired with the Viva Glam glosses.

This is a horrible picture, I am sorry. This is Sephora's lipstick in Star. I know its hard to see but it is a bronze/brown color with specks of glitter in it. Its a staple for me and I wear it often. They go for 12$ I believe.

\This color is Cargo Nahini. Got it for my b-day and I wore it all summer because it is similar to tinted chapstick. Just a hint of color. I like it but probably wont be repurchasing because...well... like I said...its like tinted chapstick. 20$ at Sephora.

I am kinda bummed out I can't go to the Hello Kitty unvieling tonight because I am working. There are a couple of things I am interested in buying once it comes out in full effect. Romping eyeshadow and the lipstick in Most Popular seem interesting to me. Kinda broke these months because I am saving up for grad school, but I can scrape up alittle something for this collection. With everyone so hyped up for the HK collection,I wonder if MAC is even being affected by the recession?

Lancome stuff

I took advantage of Lancome's deal of a free sample kit with any purchase. My mom's b-day was coming up, so I bought her some stuff she likes from the line. I thought the little eyeshadow palette was cute on the website. To be honest, I don't even know what the little bottles are exactly because my mom snatched those up really quick, leaving me with the lipstick,mascara, and shadows (the only stuff I really cared about anyway)

Here is a sample of what the colors look like on my skin:

Very light and shimmery. I do like the pink a lot. If I am not mistaken, I believe it is from the Pink Irreverence collection. It reminds me of Valentines day.

This is a picture of the lipstick that came with it in All Done Up. Its a mauve color. I am still debating how I feel about this color because I never wore a color like this before.
I mean I could wear it but, its just not a color I am used to. Excuse my bare face.

Its a fun color. I know a lot of you ladies can rock this color like it was your job to, so if your looking for a bright mauve color, this is nice. Oh yeah staying power is excellent. I wore it to sleep by accident and I woke up and there were still a bit on.

Well now, I can't not post a picture of my all time favorite bumming around shirt that I am wearing right now!
Other than that it was a do-nothing weekend. Now that its February, I have been keeping my eyes peeled for letters from the graduate schools that I have applied to for speech pathology. Yeah no anxiety... I swear these letters are not something that will determine my future and my career or anything. Nope.

This week I would like to increase my lipstick collection-I am really feeling Mac's Photo which is a deep brown. Darker than I am used to but I need a color like this. I will also check out Revlon's new Matte Collection.

Groundwork bites the dust

I have decided that I will no longer be using MAC's Painpot in Groundwork anymore. I bought it initially to be used as a primer for my eyeshadows, but it just washes out the color and makes it look dull. I got a bottle of UDPP and that really works well. Here is a picture:
The top is with UDPP and the bottom swatch is with Groundwork. The purple is so much more vibrant with UDPP. Groundwork going to go to my makeup graveyard...second thought,I will put it on Makeupalley (glossyxlipz). I just have no other use for it.

Coastal Scents Brushes

Yay! So I came home yesterday and my brushes I ordered from Coastal Scents came. I bought them after watching Koren's video on them being inexpensive alternatives to MAC brushes.Ok the first one is the stippling brush (the handle is pink!!!!!) the middle one is a contour brush and the other is a buffing brush for my bronzer. I only tried the stippling brush so far and I really do like it a lot. It is bigger than my Flirt! cosmetic one.

Excuse this picture, I just got done using the Flirt brush. Now on the website it did mention that the Coastal Scents brushes will shed after washing initially, so I wasn't surprised when I saw some of the hairs come off as I rinsed it off. I must say that the brushes had this smell to it, like nail polish. After washing the scent went away on all but one of them, the buffing brush. I am assuming that this is because that brush is the denser one of the three.

I will continue to use the smaller stippling brush for hard to reach areas of my face such as the corners of my mouth and under my eyes. I think these brushes will last me a long time
Today I am expecting my package from Lancome to come with the samples!

Today I am wearing HIP in Saucy. I bought it last month.
I only used those two colors and Stila's Kitten as a highlighter.

I know its kinda subtle, but I am going to work soon. My goal next month is to buy brighter colors for more vibrant,playful looks. Then I can really have some fun then!

My skin in a bottle

You know a common trend I see happening to many ladies is that they are being pleasantly surprised by drugstore brand cosmetics . The companies seem to be really stepping up their game.

For example, I was on a quest to find a foundation that didn't make me look too white or too red,brown,yellow,etc. I went to MAC and although the MUA matched me somewhere between NC 45-NC 50, neither of those colors looked right on me. Bobbi Brown made me look red. Hell, when I went to Sephora, some lines didn't even carry a shade that would be remotely close to me! So I went to CVS and just got some Trublend from Covergirl because I had some coupon buried in my purse.I went home tried it and....its the closest thing to my skin so far! This is in Tawny.It's light and it gives me a dewy look. You can still see my real skin underneath but it still just evens out my face.

Another thing that surprised me was the skunk brush from FLIRT! It costs about 8 bucks. I use it to stipple the foundation on my skin. My broke ass couldn't afford the 187, so this will do till after the recession.

Before I used the stippling technique, my foundation would look kinda piled on. But this brush give me this airbrush, dewy look. I have some more brushes coming in the mail from Coastal Scents, among them is the Italian Badger Skunk Brush. Can't wait to try those out.

Well take a look outside my window.Yeah that is snow I will have to be removing off my car before I go to work. Grr...I'm going back to sleep.

Winter Blahs

Ok so I have been feeling a bit down and I am sure its because of the gray boring weather. Its always cold and I wake up to darkness and come home to darkness. Talk about winter blahs...

It only cost 9.99. I love the little unique charms on them. I got lots of compliments at work.
Speaking of winter blahs, my skin has been soo dry these few days. The air has just sucked the moisture out of my little face. I stopped by Lush and asked them for any recommendations. They pointed me to Crash Course in Skincare face mask. Its made of avocado and yogurt.

BOOOO!

Oh I didn't scare you away yet? Ok here is the jar. It seems mighty small at first, but you can get about 7 facials. Also this has an expiration date so you cant stock up on this.

I have to say I like it. My skin did feel alot more moisturised and I had a bit of a glow. I felt so fresh, so clean.

Another favorite mask I love is by Murad. It exfoliates and eat all that dead skin you might accumulate have especially in this weather. You can get it in Sephora for 10 bucks for 3 packs. It lasts me a while since I dont use a whole pack on my face each time.
The last thing I bought was this cute little headband from Ulta for 10 bucks. It goes well with some of my business causal clothes (yeah I have some of those believe it or not haha)Aight thats all for now! Happy Monday!

Mini Haul

Waterlining! Welcome me to the 21st century!! Talk about slow, I'm probably the last person out there to learn this cool technique, but damn did it make all the difference in the world! All this time I have been doing it wrong by not getting close enough to the eye, so I would end up looking like a panda. But thanks to Youtube videos such as this:

I see the light. It never occurred to me to slightly pull down the lower eyelid to get the best results.I was so proud! I was rocking it all day and my boyfriend loved it. Its made my eyes much more defined. I did it with a cheap black eyeliner from Ulta, buuuuut those videos got me eyeing those gel eyeliners from Makeup for Ever and Urban Decay's 24/7 in Zero. Next I will experiment with a dark brown to use for daytime.

Okie dokie and now I have to talk about my mini haul today

Ok so look, I am broke, people. But I really wanted good quality brushes. I cant get by using my fingers for application anymore but I cant fork over 40 or 50 bucks for a MAC brush either. So after watching Koren's videos on his great finds at craft stores:

So I purchased a Lowe Cornell Round Mop in XL (big brush) and another one called a Maxine Mop(smaller one) at an A.C. Moore. Total ,they cost me 11 bucks and change(I got a coupon though for next time!)

According to Koren, the larger one I bought is equivilant to Mac's 129 Brush and the smaller the 239.

Can I just say how soft it feels on the face??!! After I bought it and washed it, all I did was play with it on my face without any product on it.

Sorry I didnt take a closer picture of the smaller brush. My camera crapped out on me. That one makes an excellet eyeshadow brush and have seen a few girls use it on thier makeup tutorials on youtube. My only gripe with these brushes is the handles are so freaking long (obviously). They won't fit in my makeup case so I have them laying around until I get a brush holder. But these definitley will serve me well until I am rich enough to fork the cash for a MAC brush!! Even then, I still will keep them around.

I also bought the Fix + after trying it out in the store. I really like it, but not too crazy about the pump. I notice it makes my look more dewy, so it will be great for summer.

Covergirl Swiss Chocolate

So after hearing great reviews from Makeupalley, I decided to buy Covergirl's eyeshadow in Swiss Chocolate for bout 3 bux. It was a great buy. The shadow is a bronze color with specks of glitter in it but yet its subtle. I have been wearing it for three days to work and think its great. Its great for those who are just starting to wear makeup like me. Take a look:
I really like it and it will last me forever and a day even though I wear it all the time.Also the staying power is pretty impressive considering the price. I have oily lids and I wore this one day without any primer. It was still there that night.

This photo isn't too good but you can get an idea of what it looks on my eyelids.

First Post

Ok girls. So today I went to the mall and tried to take advantage of the free makeup giveaway at certain stores due to a lawsuit. Went do Nordstroms and they were all cleaned out, but I did get some luck at the Macy's. I was able to get a full size jar of Clinique Moisture Surge, but that was about it. The other option was the Estee Lauder's Night Serum, but I just have this idea that Estee Lauder is for more mature women ( I guess its from seeing my mom using it. Anyway I don't need this moisturizer, so I will be putting it up as a swap item at Makeupalley.com(user name glossyxlipz) and hopefully exchange it for something better.

Now of course you know I was not about to leave the mall without stopping by the MAC store. I am just beginning my beauty collection so bear with me if I get all excited for buying something just now that you may have had years ago =) Its all so new to me!

I have been eyeing those Viva Glam lipsticks because most reds really look too dramatic on me for everyday use. I never was able to find one that I could wear to work or just out doing errands. But today I bought the Viva Glam VI and it is sooo pretty! Here is a picture:

Sorry it isn't clear.I am so all about Mac now! I tried another color there too that I might want to buy called Feisty.The other item I bought was Sweet as Cocoa which looks exactly what my skin looks like when its blushing. Its so natural, I love it.

So now its time for me to speak about this other problem I have. I went to Trader Joes and bought this box of Strawberry Shortcake just to have something alittle sweet after dinner. Nothing wrong with that right? WrONG!!!! This this is so unbelievable delicious...and having no concept of self control... I ate the whole thing. I am so ashamed. I felt even worst when i found out it had 4g of saturated fat which is 20% of you daily intake for 1/5 of the cake...yeah so i basically ate my weeks worth of intake right there. Im going to die of a heart attack I know it. So yeah stay away from the Trader Joe's Strawberry Shortcake if you dont want this to happen to you!!!! Lethal!!

Lastly,I would just like to share a picture of Jackson NH that I took during the summer. After looking outside at the snow and ice, just looking at this picture made my day.
